Amelia Louise Crawford, age 63, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 25, 2017.  Amelia was born on October 30, 1954 in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, West Indies to Winston and Eugene Staples.

In 1968 at the age of 14, Amelia’s family came to the United States for more opportunity.  The family settled in Brooklyn, NY where she attended Bishop McDonnel High School where she loved singing operatic music, and fashion.  She obtained her degree in 1972, and then went on to obtain her Nursing Degree from Kings County Hospital Center School of Nursing in 1976.

Amelia married James Crawford in 1976, and from that union she had two joys of her life, Malik and Ston.  She adored her boys, and built her life around making them strong and success men.  She instilled in them the importance of family, education, encouragement, faith and love.

In spite of her medical challenges, she remained closely connected to her sons.  She’d continually remind them to keep their faith in God, to love each other, and to always do their best.

Amelia is preceded in death by her Father Winston Linford Staples and her eldest sister, Winsom J. Alexander.  She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Malik S. and Ston M. Crawford; Mother Eugene Cornwall Staples;  Nephews Alexander and Rahsaan Alexander, nieces Twimonisha and Natelege  Alexander; 4 great nephews, 1  great niece, and a host of extended family and friends.

The family would like to thank everyone for all the prayers, cards, and phone calls during our time of need.  Your expressions of empathy will not be remised.  We love and appreciate shop McDonnel High School where she loved singing operatic music.  She obtained her degree in 1972, and then went on to obtain her Nursing Degree from Kings County Hospital Center School of Nursing in 1976.
