Willie D. Darby died unexpectedly yet peacefully on January 24, 2025 11: 30 PM with his family present in Richmond University Medical Center at the age of 75. Willie D. Darby was born on July 9, 1949 in Ludlow Mississippi to parents Hermon and Tiny Darby. In 1961, the Darby family moved to Staten Island, N. Willie D. Darby attended Curtis High School later enlisting in the United States Army where he served in the Vietnam War for 3 years. He was honorable discharged in 1969 and received Army commendation, Medal for Meritorious Service, National Defense Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Willie D. Darby returned home where his High School sweetheart, Cora Lee James, was awaiting his arrival. Cora Lee James was very proud of Willie D’s achievements. In 1970 the young couple got married. 
Willie D. Darby began working in the U.S. Postal Service, Proctor and Gamble and U.S. Public Health Hospital which was a military hospital later to be called Bailey Seton Hospital for a total of 25 years. He loved to sing, he loved bringing encouragement and joy to your soul; his voice was captivating, expressive, powerful and vibrant. He loved running and was very fast. Willie was the most humble, generous and loving person who was very funny and outspoken. He made people laugh without even trying to. He was skilled in self-defense and was very proud of it. He was socially active in his community. 
Willie D. Darby was dedicated to being a loving husband, father and grandfather and great grampa and friend. He was a dedicated member of All Saints Church of Christian in God. He was the biggest supporter of his wife, Bishop Cora Lee Darby and was very proud to have her as his wife. He loved his family dearly. Willie D. Darby is survived by his wife Bishop Cora Lee Darby, Children; Vennisa, Willie Jr., Tania, Troy Brock, Curtis Damain Jeanna and Jason and Danny Darby. Grandchildren Lynquita, Domonick and Domonte' Blunt, Michael, Matthew, Darvell, Troyonah, Yazmin, Jessica, Amoni Victoria Montay, Little Willie, Kaleaha, Moneal and Jacquel Amazing, Amiyah, Great Grands: Josiah, Joyln, Layla, Londyn, Jaxin, Tiana, Princeton, Kingston, Royalty, Messiah, Donell Jr., Aliza Dax Bethea, Caelyn, Yanessa, Launa, Raelynn Amillion. 
Siblings; Diane and Tom Tites, Fanniemae and Charles Walker, Hermon Jr. Darby, Victory Bowling, Princess Ann and Burnie Brown, James E. Darby; Friends Michael Bracey, Celeste, Rasheen and Femi.  And a host of nieces and nephews and great grands. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Herman and Tiny Darby, Sister Ethel Lee McSwain, daughter Lynn Bethea grand daughter Sequena Darby and grandson Jaylan Brock of Fremont Ohio.
