With profound sadness and love, we announce the passing of Tino Zaldivar, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and the heart and soul behind Straight Razor Barbershop. Tino passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him most.

A master of his craft and a pillar of the community, Tino was more than just a barber. He was a mentor, a friend, and a trusted presence in so many lives. For decades, Straight Razor wasn’t just a place for a haircut. It was a sanctuary filled with conversation, laughter, advice, and connection. Known lovingly as “Cuba,” he had a gift for making everyone feel at home. His chair was always a safe space for honesty, storytelling, and comfort.

Tino was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Johayra Zaldivar, standing by her side with unwavering love and dedication. Their bond was a true example of commitment, partnership, and affection, an inspiration to all who knew them.

Above all, Tino was a family man. He is survived by his six children: Mellisa, Nastassja, Junior, Kayra, Brianca, and Tino. He was also a deeply proud and loving grandfather. He found his greatest joy in simply being with his grandchildren, offering love, wisdom, and warmth in every moment. His guidance was steady, his hugs were healing, and his presence was a blessing.

Those fortunate enough to know Tino will remember his kindness, his infectious smile, and his unique ability to brighten any room. He gave the best advice, not because he needed to speak, but because he always knew just what to say.

A celebration of Tino’s life will be held on June 4, 2025, from 5 PM to 8 PM at Stradford Funeral Home, 1241 Castleton Ave, Staten Island, NY 10310. In honor of his spirit, the family invites friends and loved ones to gather, share memories, and celebrate the joy he brought to so many lives.
