As Shirl Girl would say to be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord. So, on this day, 12/12/2022, we honor and celebrate our matriarch on her home-going celebration.
Shirleen Wilson was born September 1st, 1958, in Brooklyn, NY to Virginia McClain and Albert Mitchell. She was raised by her grandfather/daddy, Silas T, McClain, whom she loved and admired dearly. During her early upbringing, she resided in Gowanus & Brownsville, Brooklyn. She was known as SKINNY and to be associated with the Tomahawks! In the year 1972, she migrated to Staten Island. A few years later, she fell in love with her sister/friend, Regina Wilson's brother, Arthur Jack Wilson, and later, would be married.
Shirleen was a devoted mother and grandmother to many people near and far. A humanitarian, philanthropist, and entrepreneur in her own right. She loved to feed and house anyone in need; never closing her doors but sharing all of what she did and much of what she did not have! She was a giver through and through.
Always loving to laugh, Shirleen played spades, and pitty-pat, and attended bingo with her crew: Val, Mona, Ms. Jerry, Joanie, Betty, Dot, and Aunt Vernice. Shirl-Girl was a homemaker and a devoted Eastern Star, Eastern Star, Ladies of Areme, Chapter 109. She was committed to whatever she put her heart into! She was the Original Streetdoctor.
