Shanita Dee Collier

Shanita Dee Collier, daughter of the late Dorothy James and Thomas Collier, was born February 15, 1959 in Brooklyn, NY and passed quietly in her sleep on Friday, September 24, 2021.
As a youth, Shanita attended Public School P.S. 20, P.S. 67, and Rothschild Junior High School. She later went on to graduate Street Academy Military School. At an early age, Shanita's passion for music and performing arts began. Shanita had a niche for style and loved to dress. She was very fashionable and could put together an outfit sure to turn heads. Even in her last days she enjoyed talking about her many shoes and pocketbooks. 
Shanita loved her soda and chips. She found joy in sharing her goodies too. If she had a soda you had to get a cup so she could share. 
On the exterior one would think Shanita was hard and unapproachable, but there was a softer side to her only a few got to see. She was loving and thoughtful, kind and giving. She showed love to those she loved, and she LOVED LOVED her children!
Treasuring her memory are two daughters: Shawanya and Merita ; Son: Michael; Granddaughters: Septasia, Marija, Janea, and Gianna; Grandsons: Christian, Michael, and Kasieum; Sisters: Tonya Collier, Darnell Collier, Sebrina Sherman (Etroy) and Theresa Collier; Brothers: Terrance (Pat), Troy Collier (Rosalind), Thimothy Collier, Todd Williams (Carolyn), Tommy Brown, and Tortorrieo Collier; Sister-in-law: Maria Collier and host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews as well as a host of other relative, friends and special friends. 
In addition to her parents; Mother: Dorothy James;  Father: Thomas Collier; Stepmother: Cathy Coleman; Grandmother: Helen Jarvis; Grandfather: Short Matthews. Shanita is now rejoined with her siblings, Tyrone, Alfred, Kenneth, Tommy, Tracy, Antoinette, Denise, Elizabeth, Laverne, Shantay, and Chirone......may you all rest in peace and have a blessed reunion!
