Samuel "Sammy" Jones was born on February 21, 1999, to Elizabeth (Lisa) and Willie Jones. Sammy was born and raised in Elm Park and tragically lost his life on the same street he grew up on after a motorcycle accident on Tuesday June 18, 2024. Sammy attended Mariners Harbor Day nursery as a toddler, P.S.21 Elementary, I.S.61 Intermediate School, and he graduated from Port Richmond High School in 2017. During his time at Port Richmond High School Sammy played for the school's football team and was involved in the culinary program.
After high school Sammy was employed by a few different companies such as Pioneer Transportation, Amazon, Lickety split, The Hilton, and various maintenance & fast-food industry jobs. He also completed classes to become a Certified Nursing Assistant in early 2024. At the time of Sammy's death, he was employed by Everything Entertainment and was an owner operator of his own trucking company J1S express. Sammy enjoyed being self-employed and traveling over the road.
Sammy was very family oriented and enjoyed having family get-togethers and looked forward to having dinner every Sunday with his family. If he was invited somewhere he was definitely showing up with his huge infectious smile, a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on. His heart was so big, he was filled with an unmeasurable amount of love, kindness, compassion, generosity, and loyalty. He had a special place in his heart for senior citizens and would do anything to help them weather it was bringing in their trash cans from the curb, bringing the ice cream truck to the nursing home to hand out Ice cream, carrying their bags, and running errands for them. He loved to travel and found joy in exhilarating activities such as Sky diving, Jet skiing, ATV's, go carting, Zip lining, and going to theme parks. He was an avid motorcyclist. He loved his dirt bikes, ATV's and of course his Motorcycle. He also cherished quite evenings spent at home, time with his best friend's, attending his nephews' sporting events, and relaxing on the beach. His outlook on life was amazing. Sammy left a lasting impression with every person he had an interaction with all across the world. He was truly an amazing person with a big joyous personality.
Sammy was so involved with his immediate family he would talk with us every day, encouraging you to have a productive day, make breakfast on the weekends, hang out with his nieces and nephews and give them tons of unnecessary candy. Talk to his brother for hours, lovingly annoy his sister's, play fight and request special meals from his brother in-law, sweet talk his mother because he was the youngest child and hung out in the living room with his dad discussing so many things.
Sammy sadly leaves behind his parents Elizabeth (Lisa) and Willie Jones, Grandmother Christine Jones, his siblings Niyana, William, and Maya. Brother in-law David Lloyd (Niyana), and sister in-law Courtney (William), Nieces and nephews Nilaya, Elijah, Olivia, Nathan, Zayden, and Zaiyah. And a host of aunts, uncles, cousin and many friends.
