With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ruben Q. Colquit, who departed this life on July 21, 2026, at the age of 48.
Born on September 10, 1977, Ruben was a lifelong resident of East Orange, New Jersey, where he was raised on Halstead Street. (HOG) He attended the East Orange School District and proudly graduated from East Orange High School in 1996.
Ruben had a true passion for music. Rapping wasn’t just something he enjoyed—it was a gift that he shared with everyone around him. His talent, charisma, and unmistakable style made a lasting impression on all who heard him. Known throughout East Orange, Newark, Orange, and Morristown, Ruben was respected and loved by many. He walked unapologetically through life, leaving his mark everywhere he went. His presence, loyalty, and genuine love for people will never be forgotten.
Ruben was preceded in death by his beloved father, Ruben A. Colquit, and his cherished sister, Dawne Woodruff.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Melinda Colquit; his devoted sister, Tyisha Colquit; his beloved children, Destiny Colquit, Mekhi Q. Odom, Ruben A. Colquit Jr., and Isis Odom.
He is also survived by his nephews, Lavelle Pointer, Tajai Richardson, and Kelis Thomas; his nieces, Zaneyah Fryer, Alana Skipper, and Sheyla Skipper; great nieces Analeece Pointer, Honesty Pointer and Amani Turner a very close cousin Vincent Hopson, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were touched by his love, laughter, and unforgettable spirit.
Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that Ruben’s legacy will live on through his children, his family, his music, and the many memories he created with those who knew and loved him.
Rest peacefully, Ruben. Your voice, your smile, and your spirit will forever echo in our hearts.
