Obituary for Rickey Thomas Dowtin Jr.

Rickey Thomas Dowtin Jr. was born and raised in Staten Island, New York.  He was the son of the late Rickey Thomas Dowtin Sr. and Florence (Jenkins) Townes and the step-son of Mr. Eric A. Townes.

Rickey was a graduate of Mckee H.S. where he played for the Mckee/S.I. Tech Football Team.  Rick had a love for cigars.  He was very knowledgeable about cigars from all around the world and he loved to sit and enjoy a good cigar with a host of his friends at the cigar shop.  Rickey also had a passion for spending time with his family and friends during family gatherings, cook outs and watching sporting events.

At the time of Rickey’s death, he was employed as an Enforcement Officer for the New York City Dept of Sanitation.

Rickey is survived by his grandmother Mrs. Virginia Dowtin, his 2 sisters, Erica and Ashley Townes, a God-sister Lakia Boyd, and his 5 nieces, Jaymie, Janelle, Jillian, Zoe and Sky.

Rickey is also survived by his uncle (who was more like a brother/sometimes father to Rickey), Mr. John L. Jenkins Jr., his aunts (whom were all like sisters to Rick) Ms. Theresa Jenkins, Ms. Josephine Jenkins, Mrs. Joyce Staten, Mrs. Antionette Cox, Ms. Gloria Dowtin, Mrs. Cherry Cannon, Ms. Joann Curry and Mrs. Kathey Smith along with his uncles Mr. Frank Cox, Mr. Larry Edwards, Mr. Lorenzo Staten and Mr. J. Leon Smith.

Rickey is survived by his Great Uncles, Mr. James and Mr. Prince Earl Jenkins, and Mr. Robert Dowtin, his Great Aunts, Ms. Jacqueline Jenkins. Ms. Syline Van Dyke and Ms. Minnie Pearl Dowtin and well loved by a host of cousins that were extremely close to Rickey and a host of good friends, along with his 3 God-children whom he loved dearly.

Rickey was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. John and Joyce Jenkins, his paternal grandfather the Rev John Thomas Dowtin and his brother John Thomas Dowtin.

Rickey had that magnetic personality and contagious smile that lit up a room and he will be dearly missed by all who loved him!!!!
