In loving Memory of Rebecca Bush-Miguel (tenderly known as Beck) was called home to be with the lord on the evening of August 22, 2022 at the Staten Island University Hospital.

Rebecca was born on September 11, 1942, the 3rd oldest out of ten children from the late Carl and Sallie Bush in Bennettsville, South Carolina. She attended the Rosenwald High School; after which she came to NYC as an adult, where she settled and raised her three children. She worked various jobs, including being a caretaker, maintenance worker, and a factory worker when she met the love of her life (the late) Elton Miguel. She married and moved to Staten Island where she continued her love and unity for her family, especially playing a major role in raising her grandchildren, Cekira and Denzel.

Beck loved being with and enjoying her family, playing cards, cooking, laughing etc. She loved bingo and loved traveling, especially going to the casinos. She also loved playing the lotto and would call anybody in the family if they were out to play her favorite number 1142 (a dollar straight- a dollar box).

Beck was a queen, and when you walked in the room where she was present, you felt her warmth. She was playful and had a sense of humor that would keep you smiling and laughing. Her good spirit would comfort you and relax you to tell her anything and she would give you the best advice and guidance. She was a pillar of strength, support, and discipline for her family. She was a glue that held the family together. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother often stressing the importance of family values, love, and GOD.

In her later years, Rebecca spent her spare time reading the bible and listening to gospel music. She found her church home, attending Rhema House of Prayer and Deliverance. Being among other faithful church members, who also felt her spirit. She was named Mother Bush in her church home. She loved dressing up in her Sunday’s best and praising the lord.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her husband the late, Elton Miguel; along with several family members, including her daughter, the late Lutricia Bush; grandson, the late Saquan Bush; her beloved siblings, the late May, Franklin, Chester, and Annie Bell.

Rebecca is in memory of her surviving family, including her two children, Cecluphus Bush and Denise (son in law, Brinnton); 8 grandchildren; Cekira, Mahalia, Devante, Denzel, Johneisa, Jahreek, Dameion and Diamond. Her living siblings, Marie, Rachel, June, Tommy Lee and Bobby; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Rebecca will be greatly missed and forever live in our hearts and memories.
