Raymond Green ''AKA'' Kush transitioned peacefully in Clove Lakes Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center on Thursday July 10th, 2025 In Staten Island, NY at the age of 78.
Raymond Green was born on September 27th, 1946 in NY,NY to Theodore Commodore Green and Emily Wilson Green. He graduated from High School of Fashion Industries. As a result, he became proficient in his love for sewing and fashion. He later used the skills to venture into a business which afforded him the opportunity to make and sell afro-centric clothing along with original leather bags and hats. He took great pride in his work. He was employed at Poles Tublin Law Firm in Manhattan. He later secured a position with Allied Security where he worked until his retirement. He was well read across a broad spectrum of literature with a deep concentration on Black History and the dynamics of the African Diaspora. He was an Avid activist for the people and never failed to share the information with the young people in the family as well as others. Kush was loved and well respected in the Mariners Harbor Community by both young and old alike. He spearheaded and maintained the Mariners Harbor Community garden. He was passionate about this effort and committed to producing healthy nourishment for the community. As a result of his efforts, he received several awards of Recognition from the New York City Housing Authority. Kush also loved to carve wood and make Canes and African Wooden Sculptures.
He was a faithful and loving husband to Gloria Rodriguez Green from December 18th, 2016 until the time of his transition to be with the lord.
Kush is survived by his wife Gloria, Barbara, his children's mother through his first marriage.Ten children - Diane, Raymond, Omar, Darah, Kisha, Hanibal, Ayana, Asha, Laquinn and Eddie, Two stepdaughters - Ramona and Victoria, Four sisters - Daisy, Carolyn, Meredith and Jacquelyn, One brother-inlaw Don, Thirty grandchildren, Thirty Three great grandchildren, Three great great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
