Pamela Edwards Obituary

Pamel  Edwards, 68, of Staten Island, NY, departed on April 20, 2020. Pamela, affectionately known as “Pam “ was  born on February 9,  1952 on Staten Island, NY to  Willa  Mae  and  Claude D.  Edwards  of  Selma  Alabama.

Raised in a family committed to higher education and community outreach, upon completing her education at Port Richmond High School on Staten Island, Pam went on to explore course work at The College of Staten Island. Committed to empowering young people, Pam worked at Whitney  M. Young Day Care  Center’s after  school program and also worked  as  a  Counselor  for  Catholic  Charities. In her spare time, Pam volunteered  at  the  Salvation  Army  Soup  Kitchen and fed invalids at Seaview Hospital in Ocean Breeze Terrace.

Always a woman of faith, Pam taught Sunday school  at Shiloh AME  Zion  Church in her youth and was a junior organist there. Pam’s adult church family remains the Missionary Ministry at  Fellowship Baptist Church.

An unwavering Christian, being a Prayer Warrior and enjoying Fellowship were the cement of her community. Pam   loved  her  family  and  friends  with  all  of  her  heart.  She was especially proud of her daughter Niccole and grandson Jalen. Pam was a  kind hearted  woman  who never passed up an opportunity to liven a conversation by telling stories or jokes. Among her many sweet qualities, good humor endeared her to everyone she interacted with including the staff at  Vanderbilt Nursing Home on Staten Island, her last place of residence. The staff  there were fond of Pam and always spoke warmly about her. The void Pam’s passing creates will stay full of warm memories of her laughter, joyful dancing, bright eyes and warm smile.
