Ogie G Mapp was born on March 8th 1937 to the proud parents of Ogie Mapp Sr. and Mamie Mapp. In Crawfield, GA. He met and married Flora Lee Mapp. To that union they had two children, Naimah Cecilia Mapp and Flora Elisa Mapp. He was a loving father. He taught his children at a young age the values that they would need throughout their life. He served in the USA Marines and had an honorable discharge. This, he took great pride in. It is an honor to have him buried in a miliary cemetery. He had a BSN nursing degree and worked as a Nursing administrator at S.I. Development center. (Formally known as Willowbrook State School for over 35 years up until he retired. After his retirement he moved to Kingstree, S.C. He was a kind and gentle soul and loved to meet people. He was the kind of person who would meet someone while fishing, then bring them home for dinner. One of his favorite past times was fishing. He also had a great love for animals and raised chickens, and geese and other animals in his backyard. He would go to the flea market every Saturday to sell chickens and to the auction every Sunday to bid ad buy more, this was his routine every weekend, until he got sick. He always had a big smile on his face and a great personality to go with it. His family and education were the most important things to him. He encouraged us to read Greek Methodology, and national Geographic’s, and to learn our family history.
He is survived by his ex-wife Flora Lee Mapp, one Daughter Naimah Cecilia Mapp, 6 grandchildren, Nahime Billups (Tracy), Shanikqua Williams, Kurt Mayfield (Treasure), Hakeem Beatty, Jamisa Mapp, Dermell Ogie Collins. A host of great grands, great-great grands, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
