Mark "Tyshon" Jefferson

Mark Alonzo Jefferson 59, passed away on Wednesday, June 5th, 2024 at Richmond University Medical Center. Today we have come together to celebrate the life of Mark Jefferson, affectionately known to family and friends as “Tyshon”. Mark (Tyshon), was born on Staten Island on March 20th, 1965 to Leroy Jefferson and Margaret Crosley.

Mark attended various island schools, starting at Mariner’s Harbor Daycare Center, P.S. 44, I.S. 72, and graduated from Port Richmond High School. At an early age Mark developed a curious attraction to pigeons. He was known to have pigeon coups at various locations throughout Marines Harbor. Later on in life he nourished his passion for horses and purchased what is known as a quarter horses. The name is derived from its ability to out run other horse breeds in races 1/4 mile or less. Mark also developed a passion for motorcycles. He was an active member of the Shaolin Ryders motorcycle club here on Staten Island. Mark was previously employed as a stationary engineer at South Beach Psychiatric Center and then Volunteers of America. Mark was a son, brother, grandfather, uncle, father- in -law,. He was preceded in death by both parents Leroy and Margaret as well as his daughter, Laquana Jefferson. 

 He leaves behind 5 children Tarell, Tashawna, Tyshon, Terema, and Ladae. He is survived by 3 grandchildren; Tyese, Veronica, and Zion. Mark leaves behind a sister Cynthia and a brother Everett. A son - in- law Anthony, and A brother - in - law Michael and two nephews Dashon and Josiah and one niece Laila. A host of cousins and extended family and friends.
