Margaret M. Balmer, 75, was born on February 15, 1950 in Seaboard, North Carolina. She transitioned into the presence of God on Saturday , January 31th at Richmond University Medical Center.
Margaret came to Staten Island when she was a young child, living first in New Brighton, then West Brighton, and most recently Port Richmond.
Margaret graduated from Curtis High School in 1969 and went to work at Banker’s Trust/Deutsche Bank where she worked for almost 40 years retiring in 2008. Not wanting to stay home she then went to work at New York Presbyterian Hospital, retiring in 2015.
Margaret loved hosting family dinners for the holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. She also loved giving out her “goodie bags” to everyone and making her “baked macaroni and cheese”, sweet potatoe pies and banana pudding. Margaret also loved to travel and the island of Jamaica was her favorite place to go.
Margaret is survived by her sister Mildred Balmer and brother Millard Balmer, Jr. (Jackson, N C). Nieces/nephews, Ida, Angie, Chavon, Michael. Great nieces/nephews Vernice, Daniel, Sr, Jocquelyne, Ronetti, Lee, Nefetari, Darrion, Triece. Great-great nieces/nephews Daniel, Jr., Dominick, Alayjah, Amani and Daramis. Also a host of cousins and friends who will miss her.
She is preceded in death by her mother Louvenia “Honey” Balmer, her father Millard Balmer, Sr, her brothers LC Coopland, Linwood “Pal” Turner, and Roy R. Balmer. Her aunt Evelyn Kee and uncle Howard Turner.
