Manuel Raymond Tavares was born in Wareham, Massachusetts on February 7, 1931. He was the youngest of 9 children.
When he was a teenager, Ray enlisted in the Army and served 2 tours in Japan and Korea. When he was discharged, he met and married Joan Cureton and they raised 6 children.
He worked for 30 years at Brewers Dry Dock, as a Spray Painter and Sandblaster. After retirement Ray loved to play cards and go fishing on his boat. He loved to plant and grow vegetables in his large garden with companion Rose. Most of all he loved visiting his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his Life Partner Rose Roach, Sons Ricardo (Donna), Raymond and Robert, Daughter Lisa Brown (Ronald), 19 Grandchildren, 32 Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Joan (2011), Daughters Joanne (2012) and Barbara (1961). He will sorely missed.
