The Life & Legacy of Lynette Johnson

Lynette Johnson-Jefferson was born on July 11, 1967, in Staten Island, New York, to the late Moses and Annie Johnson. She graduated from Wagner High School and later attended Myers School of Fashion Design. Lynette leaves behind her devoted husband, Roshamel Jefferson, and her two beloved sons, Jamel Johnson and Rahkim Jefferson, who were the center of her world.

Today, the Johnson and Jefferson families honor and celebrate the life of our beloved Lynette—a loving daughter, sister, aunt, wife, and mother. We are grateful for the love, support, and cherished memories she shared with all who knew her.

Lynette was a Godly woman who loved the Lord deeply. Her favorite scripture was The Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9–13). She possessed a beautiful spirit and a heart full of compassion. Many considered her an angel because of her kindness, courage, and unwavering love for others.

A talented seamstress and fashion designer, Lynette found great joy in creating beautiful garments. She also dedicated part of her life to serving others as a Medical Assistant in the healthcare field until an injury led to her retirement.

Having been born and raised on Staten Island, Lynette spent more than twenty years there. During that time, she met Roshamel Jefferson. Lynette was already the proud mother of her son, Jamel Johnson, when she and Roshamel began their relationship. Roshamel embraced Jamel as his own, becoming a loving father figure who cherished and appreciated him as a bonus son. Their bond was built on love, respect, and family.

Lynette and Roshamel’s relationship blossomed into a loving marriage that spanned more than 30 years. Together, they welcomed their son, Rahkim Jefferson, and created a family rooted in love, support, and devotion.

Because Roshamel had family in Atlanta, Georgia, the couple often traveled there to visit loved ones. After many visits, Lynette fell in love with the area, particularly the city of Conyers, and decided to make Georgia her home. After relocating, she continued her caring nature by helping care for two bright and witty children Azari and Azaleah Fermine, affectionately known as, Zi Zi and Cee Cee who lived next door. The children adored Lynette and often became emotional whenever it was time for her to leave.

In her leisure time, Lynette enjoyed cooking and preparing meals for family and friends. Her specialties were sweet potato pie and macaroni and cheese, both of which were loved by everyone who tasted them. She spoke proudly of her family and never missed an opportunity to share her love and appreciation for them.

Lynette was adventurous, spontaneous, and respectful to everyone she met. She had a special gift for making others feel welcomed and valued. She was also known for her green thumb and her talent for decorating and creating a warm, beautiful home.

Above all, Lynette fiercely loved and protected her sons, always standing up for them and ensuring they were treated with kindness and respect. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, caring sister, cherished aunt, and loyal friend. Her presence touched countless lives, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Legacy of Love

Lynette Johnson-Jefferson is survived by her loving husband, Roshamel Jefferson; her two sons, Jamel Johnson and Rahkim Jefferson; her siblings, Annie Mae, Lois, Betty, Anthony, and Michael Johnson; as well as Vera Tate, Barbara Bullock, Yvonne Wiley, Lisa Matthew, Bruce, and Denise. She also leaves behind her cherished Goddaughter, Tyasia Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
