Leonia Williams was born January 31, 1954, to the late Wallace Williams and the late Mary Williams. She was the first of eight children born to this union where four were boys and four were girls, she was born in Kings County Hospital Brooklyn, New York. She attended elementary, junior high, and high school in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from Berriman High School in Brooklyn and went on to work various assignments as a home attendant.
Leonia loved to play cards, especially Pitty Pat, Bingo, which she loved to win, arts and crafts, and traveling to Coney Island for enjoyment. Leonia loved to visit people and hang out. As a native New Yorker, she loved New York City and traveling from borough to borough Following the death of her mom, she took care of her younger brothers and sisters, taking them to the movies, dinners, and picnics. She did the best she could to see that her siblings were taken care of. Her favorite question was, “You got any money?” whenever she would see family.
Leonia had a passion for cooking and her favorite dishes to cook were fried chicken, potato salad, fried fish, and macaroni, and if you made her angry, she wasn’t afraid to give you a piece of her mind. She would always stay busy and live life as if nothing was going wrong, even though her health wasn’t the best for a long time. She continued to have an uphill battle with her health but was always a loving mother.
On May 5, 2022 at 12:22 Leonia lost a long battle to illness but gained her wings to a better resting place. Mourning her loss and cherishing her memory are her siblings Wallace “Malik” Williams, Jr. (Helga), Oliver “Ali” Williams (Leonora), Theresa Williams, Reverend Donnie Williams (Kathlyn), and Gloria Williams. She also leaves behind her two daughters, her aunts Rose, Nancy, and Esther, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
