Juliet “Lett” Rice was born in Buffalo, SC on June 20, 1933, to the late R.R. “Willie” and Iola “Toot” Rice.  After a long illness on December 28, 2022, Jesus saw that Lett was getting weary and said come be with me and let’s rejoice together.

Juliet was affectionately called Lett by everyone.  She was a quiet, humble, loving person, that would do whatever she could to help you. She always had a smile on her face and had an amazing laugh (chuckle).  She was the sweetest person you would every meet.

Lett was educated in the Union County school system. She attended Sims High School and later received her GED.  As a child she learned who Christ was, accepted Christ into her life at an early age, and tried to live by his word.

Lett relocated to Staten Island in 1953.  She connected with St. Philips Baptist Church, upon arriving to Staten Island.  While at St. Philips she served on the Missionary Ministry, Pastor’s Aide Ministry, Senior’s Ministry and was Sunday School Teacher. In church she loved helping wherever it was needed.

Lett was employed by Staten Island Developmental Disabilities Service Office for 33 years.  She was a true Mets fan, enjoyed watching her daytime soap operas, and golf with Tiger Woods.  Her passion was babysitting for her family and others.

Lett was predeceased by her daughter Peggy Briggs-Landrum, her son Tommy Rice Sr., her sisters Willie Mae Browning, Myrtle Fuller, Ruth Rice and her brothers JC Rice and Robert Earl Rice.

Lett leaves to remember her love her daughters, Barbara McClurkin of Whitmire, SC , Rosalyn Rice-Warren, her son- in law Charlie Landrum of Buffalo, SC, her grandchildren De Vonne Briggs, LaCretia McClurkin-Peake(Duane) of Union, SC, Lashonda Jones of Charlotte, NC, Douglas Warren, of Riverdale, Georgia, Julien Colon, Lashai Bell, Tommy and Damien Rice, her great grands Kendall McClurkin of Whitmire, SC, Allysa Peake- Burnett of Union, SC, Myia McClurkin-Pinckney (James) of Summerville, SC, Dominique Jones-Washburn (Brian) of Somerville, MA , Candace Wolfe, Darin Warren of Havelock, NC and Jaden Munnerlyn, her great-grands William Glenn , Naomi Burnett,  Eliana and Davina Pinckney, her sister Pearl Gilliam, doted on nephews  and niece Hakim Rice and Meshack Moore, and Taylor Murray, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
