James Murray, who was affectionately known as Jimmy or Murray was born and raised in Harlem, New York.  James departed this life on October 2, 2024 in Staten Island, New York. He was born to the late George Murray and Rebecca Clark on February 23, 1951.  James was the 7th of 8 children.  Evelyn (deceased), George, Jr. (deceased), Annabelle (deceased), Janie (deceased), Gail (deceased) and Lorraine Murray.

After graduating from high school, James went into the police academy serving the people  of New York.  To fill his time after retirement, James worked a number of security positions and always worked at Vanderbilt Nursing home.  James loved eating seafood, watching his favorite show Law & Order and telling a plethora of dad jokes.   

In 1972 he married and began a family with Elenitsa (Leak) Murray and had two children from that union, Melinda (Intorcia) Murray and Nitsa (Kafader) Murray.  He continued his family with his sons Brian and Dion (deceased).   

James leaves sweet memories and love  with his surviving relatives; his three children, Melinda Intorcia (Michael), Nitsa (Keith), Brian. His grandchildren, Joanna, Shawn, Amelia, Messiah, Israel, Isys and Reign Corbett.  His partner Michele Kennedy and her children, Tara and Tiffany Martin and grandchild Eric Dawson, Jr.  He is also survived by Renee Roper (Niece), Davaughan Roper (Nephew), Christina Salters (Niece), Joel Dorsanville (Nephew), Anna Legare (Niece) and numerous cousins, family and a host of friends.

He touched many lives and his presence will be sorely missed.
