     Gumercindo “Grand-pa Fruit” Cruz. 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 22, 2025. He was a proud Staten Island native. 
     Gumercindo was born on January 13, 1942 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico to Mr. and Mrs. Cruz. He went to school in Puerto Rico later working as a carpenter and electrician. Fuit Jay came from time spent with family and friends- he loved to fish, cook (that man could cook) watch T.V., play cards, Dominos, dancing and listen to music. His home was always filled with laughter and good food. 
     He is survived by his wife Nilsa Cruz, 15 kids and 2 step-sons. 13 boys and 3 girls and Joe Delgado, Merissa Thompson, goddaughter Maria Ayala, sister Angel Gonzalez Stepson Angel Gonzalez, Best friend Jay along with 218 Grandkids, Amanda Chavis and 217 more, 118 great-grand children, 70 great-great grandchildren. 
     We love you with all of our heart and soul Grandpa-Fruit. His presence will be missed and his love and legacy will live on in every heart he touched.
