Gregory Francisco Morales, age 58, passed away on Friday, October 21st, 2022 at Staten Island University Hospital in Staten Island, NY after a long battle with multiple illnesses. Gregory was born on June 19th, 1964 in New London, CT to the late Faith ‘Tami’ Morales (Tamano) and the late Joseph Ampania.

After attending McKee High School for a short time, Greg enlisted in the US Navy in 1981 where he served as a Boiler Technician until the end of his tour. In June of 2019, he retired from the NYC Department of Transportation, where he worked as a High Pressure Plant Tender (Boiler Engineer) for 10+ years at the Staten Island Ferry. Prior to, he also worked for the City of New York at The Department of General Services in Downtown Brooklyn and the former St. Vincent’s Hospital on Staten Island.

Before his health took a toll on his body, Greg was always on the go. He was big on spending time with family and friends; especially playing cards or dominoes with his boys. Greg enjoyed golf, watching sports - his Yankees, Knicks, & Giants were always going to be winners to him, he enjoyed listening to his oldies - making up his own words as he sang along, and watching repeats of old westerns late at night. Whether it was planning an event or speaking about his own experiences his presence was valued, not only to him but to those around him. Greg was a mentor and sponsor to many throughout his life and will continue to be an inspiration to all.

Above all, he was a loving father who adored his four daughters known to most as his #1, 2, 3, and 4. His bond with each was unique and unmatched and continued as his relationships with his nine grandkids who he affectionately called “accessories” 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b and so on blossomed as well. His love was so great that he “adopted” his daughters' friends and their kids as his own. Just as he managed all his experiences in life with strength and grace, he will be remembered as a resilient, hardworking, selfless, and loving father, grandfather, family man, and friend. He will always hold a special place in all of our hearts.

In addition to his daughters and grandchildren. Greg is survived by his 3 sons in law, 7 siblings, 20 nieces & nephews, 3 great aunts, 5 godchildren, a host of cousins, family, friends, and colleagues.
