On Monday morning, September 16, 2024, Geraldine peacefully departed this life at the Mount Sinai Hospital In New York City, New York at the age of 64. Geraldine was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on Thursday, July 9, 1960, to the proud parents of John Henry Davis and Annie Mae (Parham) Davis. She was the fifth child born into the Davis Family.

A few years after her birth, the family moved to Staten Island, where she attended P.S. 16 followed by Curtis High School, by which she is a graduate. With a strong desire to help others, she joined the health field and was employed by Richmond Home Needs. She worked as a Personal Care Assistant, where she also displayed and shared the love of God.

On March 13, 1978, Geraldine was united in marriage with Philip Parker. To their union, six children were born: Josiah Parker, Acklia Horton, Charlene Lindsey, Joshua Parker, Anita Parker and Xavier Parker. She also raised her two nephews, Thailee Miles Parker and Aaron Miles Parker. Geraldine has been a resident of Stapleton for many years as well as a community worker. Geraldine was a member of the Saint Paul’s Apostolic Faith Church from childhood under the leadership of Pastor/Elder Christine Gorham. In her adult years, she became a vocalist with the adult choir. A song of praise she’s been heard to sing “If you need a hand, I’ll help you if I can. ” Here she also taught the primary Bible class on Sunday Mornings.

The life Geraldine lived is speaking for her. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She had a passion for people and would do her very best to help any and everyone. She loved working in her community and served the Tenant Association as president for the Stapleton houses since June of 2002. Mrs. Stanton, the former CCOP Chairperson, admired Geraldine’s enthusiasm for Stapleton and recommended her to fill her position in 2002. Geraldine expressed feeling a bit reluctant and unworthy, but still chose to follow Mrs. Stanton’s lead and accepted the position. She proceeded with a positive attitude to help and work with the Stapleton community. Youth programs were established, some food programs, and 3 to 4 trips per year were planned for children using the available program funds along with the collaboration of the watch committee. During the pandemic, Geraldine organized a pop-up food pantry for all. A remembrance community garden was established on the NYCHA grounds where vegetables are grown with the assistance of other tenants.

In 2012, Geraldine was cited as a “Woman in History” and awarded a plaque by former city Council president Debbie Rose, because of her faithful commitments to the Stapleton community. Geraldine had planned to retire as TA President after serving out the year of 2024. At her most recent family day held in August of 2024, Geraldine stated “I went out with a bang” . It was a great family day. Everyone worked together in unison for the benefit of the community. On Friday, September 20, 2024, a memorial was organized and remembrance of Geraldine bye Cecilia (CC) and other loving tenants. An array of balloons was released, tears were shed, and prayers were shared. She was a mother to so many people.
