Gerald Alan Jackson, affectionately known as “Jerry” was born to the late Phillip Dunbar and Dorothy Anna Jackson, on July 13, 1949 in Staten Island, NY. He quietly and peacefully took his wings and went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Staten Island University Hospital North. In addition to his parents, Jerry was also preceded in death by his brother Timothy Stewart and Marlene Stewart.

Jerry was educated in the public school system of Staten Island and grew up in the catholic Faith in New York where he lived. During his school years he joined the PAL (Police Athletic League) where he played drums, he enjoyed swimming and was a lifeguard for Tompkins Pool in Staten Island. His favorite sport was Basketball and he played and was co-captain for his school team at Curtis High School, following graduation, he joined the Navy. After the military he continued his education in nursing and worked for and retired from St. Vincent’s Hospital for 30 years and The Catholic Guardian Society and home Bureau-Foster Care where he also retired after 30 years as a counselor.

Jerry will be forever missed and cherished by those he leaves behind including his former spouse Deborah from Newark, NJ; two daughters; Rory Jackson (Destin) from Chesapeake, Virginia and Latora Jackson from Warren, Ohio; A son Gerald A. Jackson, Jr. (Sandra) From Newark, NJ. Four grandchildren; Dejah, D’arah, Molina and Samori, Two sisters: Linda Phyllis Jackson-Smith (John) and Dorothy Elizabeth Jackson both of Raleigh, North Carolina; Jacob Carey and Keith Miller who were both like brothers to Gerald. As well as a host of Nieces, Nephews and other Relatives and friends too numerous to name.
