Gaynel was a people person, a motivator and a force for education. Gaynel completed her studies at Bronx Community College earning her Associate Degree in Accounting. Thereafter, was employed by Administration for Children Services (ACS) for 23 years, as a Supervisor until her retirement.
She was also a member of the Executive Board of the Harriet Tubman Purple Hat Society of which she held the position as Treasury.
In 1966, she met the love of her life Eric Durrant (deceased) and they pledged their love together in Holy Matrimony. From that precious union they produced two sons, Douglas James and Alexander Scott Durrant.
Gaynel is survived by her children: Douglas and Alexander, her grand-daughter: Jenaye, her sister-in-laws: Angela, Velma and Beatrice, her brother-in-laws: Alrick and Derrick, Nephews: Kirk, Kevin, Christopher, Dino, and Michael, her niece: Moreen, 5 grand-nieces, 1 grand-nephew and a host of other relatives and friends.
May we all find comfort in the memories of her love, the relentless drive that propelled her and those around her heights that once thought unreachable. She will forever be cherished in our hearts and minds as a beacon of love and symbol of strength.
