Gale Knox was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Gale closed her eyes for the final time on October 6th 2021 at the age of 67.

Gale was born August 6th 1954 to Irene and James Douglas. Gale received her education through the NYC school system in both the Bronx and Staten Island. In 1976 she married Joseph Nelson and they had 3 children Satchel, Hershema, and Justina.

In 1996, after being divorced from her husband for some years, Gale was reunited with her high school sweetheart Jerry Watson. The couple affectionately known as Boo and Boo lived happily together until Jerry’s death in 2019.

Throughout her life, Gale was known as a social butterfly. She often held Friday night get-togethers that lasted well into the weekend. Some items on Gale’s much desired menu include cassava stew, fried fish, palm butter, fried chicken, oxtails, rice, and potato salad.

Professionally, Gale worked for the former Department of Child Welfare as an administrative assistant. She also worked for the sisters of Charity as a maintenance technician. However, Gale would tell any and every one that taking care of kids was her business. Gale was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Grandma. Gale had an animated personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went, for Gale never met a stranger! If you knew Gale, she was either your mama, aunt, cousin, or sister - because everyone was family in Gale’s eyes. Her heart was big enough to fit the entire world!

Gale was preceded in death by her father James; ex-husband Joseph; brother James Jr.; sister Deborah; children through love Shanda and Kas; and the love of her life Jerry. Gale is survived by her mother Irene; children Satchel, Hershema, and Justina; daughter-in-law Jeliliah; grandchildren Imani, Jasmine, Justin, Shaila, Jocelyn, Jaelynn, and Carter; brothers Floyd and Nathan; sisters Alicia, Patricia, Renee, Renetta, and Eyvette; dozens of nieces, nephews, and cousins; lifelong friends Diane, Linda, Hershula, Jackie, Kim, and John, her beloved community, friends, and acquaintances - all of whom will miss her dearly.
