Elyise Greene was born in New Jersey on June 15, 1958 where she was raised by Mother Bertha Mae Greene with brother Victor Greene until Bertha’s unfortunate passing. The two relocated to Staten Island, New York to live with their Aunt Mary Williams. While living in New York, she attended Susan Wagner High School and was a graduate of the class of 1977. After High school, Elyise had many passions including working in the medical field as an assistant dental hygienist, and also as a highly-awarded Avon Lady. Before discovering her true passion of working with children.
She Met the love of her life Raymond Thomas and they married in 1998. Elyise and Raymond share two lovely children: Kyra D. Thomas, and Raymond C. Thomas. After the passing of her Husband in 2001 she relocated to Wilmington, DE where she furthered her passion for teaching children. She served as a New Castle County Head Start Educator for over 15 years. While working as an educator, she earned many certifications and was highly admired by peers, and fostered close relationships with her work family. She shared her love of crafts with students and fellow teachers alike. She had many other hobbies including but not limited to: listening to classic soul music (especially the Isley Brothers,) spending time with loved ones, and cooking amazing love-filled dishes.
She was predeceased by her mother Bertha Mae Greene, husband Raymond Thomas, and Mary Williams
She leaves behind a host of blood and chosen family, her children Kyra and Raymond, her brother Victor with whom shared an especially close bond, the patriarch of the Greene family: William H. Greene, several co-workers and many close friends - including, but not limited to Loretta Winston and Harry Reed. From this moment on we will live “For the love of you,” Elyise Greene.
