Dowell “SIMI” Simister, was born on January 17,1941 in Hartford District, Portland, Jamaica West Indies.
He migrated to the United States in the early 90s after his retirement as a Plant Operator for over 36 years working with the Portland Parish Council, Water Commission Division.
During those years he also spent a great deal of his time as a short crop farmer and could always be depended on to bring home some good catch on one of his fishing excursions
Simi touched the lives of many with his kindness and wisdom, leaving behind a profound impact on his family and friends.
A devoted father, grandfather, uncle and friend, Simi always placed the needs of others before his own.
His unconditional love, unwavering support brought comfort to those around him, and his warm smile and melodious humming of sweets songs could brighten anyone’s day.
Among his favorite songs is " Three Little birds' by the great Robert Nesta Marley. He was a great cook and enjoyed ironing
Simi lived a life of simplicity, finding joy in the little things and cherishing every moment spent with loved ones.
Whether he was telling captivating stories of his youth or offering advice, he had a way of making everyone feel valued and heard.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience and cherished memories that will be carried in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Though Simi may no longer be with us in the physical sense, the impact he made on our lives will forever remain. Rest in peace Simi!
