Doris Noami Taylor, peacefully died at home, with family on May 30th, 2025, in Dover, Delaware at the age of 90. She was born on May 30th, 1935, in Lenoir County, North Carolina to the late Hattie Mae Hargrove and Walter Hargrove. She married Woodrow Columbus Taylor, a United State Postal Worker, on April 12th, 1963. After their children became school age, Doris went back to school and received her GED Diploma from Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn New York. She later received college credits from Brooklyn SUNY College in Liberal Arts. She was very proud of her triumphs.
Prior to Doris receiving her diploma she enjoyed working at a distribution center in New Rochelle, New York making Embroidery Apparel. After receiving her diploma, she worked at Valley Ford Inc in Brooklyn, New York making auto parts. She always encouraged her kids to finish school, get a job and always work hard regardless of the pay until you were able to do better. Quitting was never an option. Doris went on to become a Nurse’s Aide, and later a Registered Behavior Technician working with children with special needs where she retired in 1999. Doris later started volunteering at the Community Family HeadStart in Far Rockaway, New York in the “Grandparent Program” until she finally decided her health was more important and had to quit and relocated to live with her daughter.
Doris is the mother of the Late Doris Ann Sasser, Late Melba Rita Hardy, Betty Catherine Hargrove, Melvin Columbus Taylor, Dolores Dee Taylor, Stephon Batts, and Sean Aubery Thompson, and ‘Significant Son Freddie Fraizer’. She was blessed to be the 5th generation of a cluster of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins and dear heart one-of-a-kind friends. She was loved by many her spirit was always gentle and kind. She would give you the shoes off her feet.
