Dennis “Buddy” Jones, Jr. was born In Marion,

Alabama on October 13, 1938 to the late Dennis Jones, Sr., and Pearlie Bailey Jones. He was the youngest of the twelve siblings.

He was raised in Selma, Alabama and attended the public schools of Dallas County, Alabama. He accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

He moved to Staten Island, NY where he started a new life for himself and his family.  He loved people, loved to laugh, and have fun with his close friends, but his heart remained in Alabama where he grew up.

Buddy put the "C" in country. He loved taking road trips to his hometown Selma, Alabama. Buddy, was a member of a Game club and an avid Game Hunter and bred Foxhounds to assist on these ventures. He loved "Down Home Blues" and dancing to B.B. King, Louie Armstrong, and Z.Z Hill and the list goes on. He would spend time in the yard raking and building things never throwing anything away. Always making things from scratch, that most of us would discard. After retirement, he worked his business as a Storekeeper and had many social encounters with his crew. Cooking was his past time. Fried chicken, collard greens and chopped BBQ with his homemade "hot & spicy" sauce. YumDelish! We love you Buddy, but God loved you more.

He is preceded in death by three brothers:  Freeman Jones, Sim Sorsby and Thomas Rush; seven sisters:  Mary Brown, Jessie B. Morrow, Lucy Morrow, Rosa L. Furlow, Florine Jones, Pearline Drake, and Lucy A. Johnson.

He leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Andrew King (Velma), West Point, MS.  His loving life-long partner, Mary Setzer, Staten Island, NY.  Stepchildren - Lisa Setzer and George Setzer Jr. Four grandchildren:  Natasha King McGhee (Gary), Hattiesburg, MS; Savannah King Luster (Jason), Brownsville, TN; James King (Brittany), Jackson, TN; and Marcus Setzer, Staten Island, NY.  Nieces; Francine Rush (SI), Geraldine Chase (SI), Kenya Degroat (SI), Courtney Chase-Cuneo (SI)Four great-grands:  Jasmine, Marissa, Kenneth, and Jase.  One sister, Mollie Smith, Selma, AL.  He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that will forever cherish Buddy in their hearts.
