Dennis Edward Grady, Jr.

Dennis Edward Grady, Jr. was born in Staten Island, NY on January 31st , 1941 to the late Rev. Dennis Edward Grady, Sr. and Beulah Crute.

He attended Curtis High School in Staten Island New York to later pursue a career with Manpower in the 70’s, which opened an opportunity for employment for African Americans and minorities.  Dennis later became Manager at Seaview Mental Health.  As his career in management escalated, he became Manager of New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) in the Continuing Education Department for many years. Prior to retirement, Dennis held a position as Clerk of Court at the Surrogate Court in Staten Island, New York.

Dennis retired in 2013 and relocated to Tampa, Florida.  He spent time enjoying the things that he loved such as fishing and gardening.  He always had an incredible green thumb and was able to literally enjoy fruit from his very own yard.  Throughout the years, he truly came to appreciate the Sunshine State. 

Dennis was preceded in death by his wife, Dortha Mae Grady (Dot), Charles Dwayne Grady (Tiny), Daniel Wesley Grady (Chubby) and his only sibling, whom he loved so dearly, the late Jeanette Grady-Harris.

Dennis was an amazing Dad, he was Spiderman, Batman, Superman and Flash to his daughter, Daeisha, needless to say—he was truly her Superhero!  He always provided words of wisdom and a comfort that we will forever remember.  Having Faith, the size of a mustard seed was one of Dennis’ favorite bible verses and he instilled in his family that that was all they needed. 

Dennis had a remarkable strong spirit of love and sharing with others who needed a helping hand.  His kindness was always a shining light that drew people to him.  He also had an incredible sense of humor even during the most trying times.  He was good at making things feel lighter in his very own way!

Dennis attended church often and truly loved the Lord.  He was raised in Mount Calvary Holy Church and rededicated his life to Christ in 2002 and made it a point to always stay in his word.

Dennis leaves to cherish his memories: his brother Jonah Crute, his sister; Jeanette, his sons; Dennis Edward Grady, Jr. III, Charles Grady and Daniel Grady, his daughters; Lillian Denise Grady-Farrow, Vanjean Grady, Dennisine Grady, Leeshorn Franklin, Rubena Lloyd (Flute) and Daeisha LeShawen Grady.  He had 31 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.  He had two nephews, Bennie Harris, Jr., (recently deceased), Ralph Edward Harris, and three nieces, Pamela Denise Harris, Gail Lorraine Harris and Sandra Lynn Harris.
