Darrell Saunders, born in 1958 to Katherine Saunders and Robert Boyd, passed away peacefully on July 31st, 2024, leaving a legacy of quiet strength and cherished memories. Darrell grew up in Staten Island, New York attending P.S. 18, I.S. 27, and Wagner High School. Throughout his life, he was known for his reserved nature, preferring the comfort of solitude but always willing to engage in passionate debates about sports, politics, and entertainment with his closest relatives.
Darrell dedicated his career to working as a security guard, a profession he held since the 1990s. Although he was a man of few words, his love for the New York Knicks was no secret. He remained ever hopeful that they would one day bring home a championship.
While Darrell didn't often express his feelings, those who knew him understood the depth of his love for his family. He cherished the memories of the past and took joy in sharing stories about his loved ones, reflecting on the good times with a fondness that spoke volumes.
Darrell is predeceased by his beloved mother, Katherine Saunders, and siblings, Dorothy Saunders and Robert Saunders. He is survived by his nieces, Deleishia, Sheaniese, Jasmine and Davannah, his nephew Robert, his great-niece Saniyah, his great-nephews Khauri, Kaiden, Kameron, Ahmir, and Kniko, and many cousins.
Darrell will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His quiet presence, unwavering hope, and the love he held for his family will forever be remembered and cherished.
