Clarence Hines, Jr. was born on April 14, 1958, at the former St. Vincents Medical Center on Staten Island, to the late Clarence, Sr. and Rosa Hines.  Clarence passed away on May 13, 2025 at Richmond Center in Staten Island.

Clarence attended Susan E Wagner High School and enlisted in the Army after graduating.  After completing four years of service, he worked for United Cerebral Palsy before embarking on his career as a traffic agent with the New York City Department of Transportation.  NYCDOT and NYPD merged and Clarence became a tow operator.  He fulfilled his position for 36 years, before retiring in 2020.

Clarence met Mary Johnson and they married in July 1990.  From their union they had two daughters, Dominique and Tiffany Hines, and a bonus daughter, Latresi Alexander. Clarence loved spending time with his family and friends in social settings.  He was the neighborhood nicknamer; and looked forward to dressing up as Santa for the kids during the Christmas holiday.  And he LOVED TO EAT!!  Have you ever seen his plate?!!  Clarence also enjoyed all kinds of sports - baseball, basketball, boxing and shooting pool.  He loved and played softball on many different teams.

Clarence was one of the founding members of the Distinguished Gentlemen, where he served for over thirty years.  He faithfully performed in different roles for the Distinguished Gentlemen with excellence : Asst. Treasurer, Treasurer and Sargeant-at-Arms. He was recently honored and presented with the Meritorious Award for his years of service.  Clarence also enjoyed the ski trips, family events and Atlantic City bus rides, where he would fill the whole bus with a group in Brooklyn and then meet the group in Staten Island.

Along with his wife and daughters, Clarence leaves to cherish his memory; his Sisters, LaWanda Valarie and Phyllis; his Brothers Gregory and Eric; , his Cousin who was like a Brother, Michael; his Uncles Herman Hines and Norman Chambliss; and Aunt Sarah Chambliss.  He also leaves a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence, Sr. and Rosa Hines.
