Carmen Laquita White was born 11/3/1960 at Harlem hospital to the parents of Rev. Dr. Rena White and brother Joe Mattocks. Her father preceded her in death in 2019. Carmen peacefully passed on Wednesday, 12/29/2021 at the home of her mother, Rev. Rena White where she resided for almost two years as she suffered a debilitating illness but she never complained. She loved living and family.

Carmen grew up in the Bronx where she attended P.S. 75, 57, Junior high school 45, Harriet Tubman high school in co-op city and graduated from Theodore Roosevelt H.S. 1977. She also attended Pace University lower Manhattan. She was employed at various position; Transit authority, Standard Charter Bank and NYC Probation Department As a typist.

Laquita which she preferred to be called, Had a great sense of humor, loved music , family and enjoyed watching her mother cook. She became a member of Praise Temple international of the Bronx, Under the leadership of Apostle Shirley Dowling. She remain in attendance by zoom. She was gentle in spirit and would assist family with the little she had. Throughout her long term illness she maintained a strong faith in God. She cherished life and her inner strength never diminished -always singing He never lost a battle' and He Knows my name'.

To cherished her memories and to mourn her passing, her mother Rev. Dr. Rena White, one aunt, Clara Fleshman of S.l. two brothers, Lorne Raynard White of NY and Reggie Mattocks of Maryland, one niece Amani Janese White, and a great nephew Uriah Watkin Jr. Aka Bud. She had a host of cousins that were like siblings as they grew up together. Laquita spent a great deal of time in S.I. with her Cousins. She had great cousins whom she adored. She never had children but had a great love for animals-Beedie, Buster, Sable and Penelope her two cats. She had a host friends and associates, also a long time friend Sis. Brenda Siders. What she was most admired for was her astuteness in learning -reading two books at a time and she served as her mothers' encyclopedia, playing the game of Jack and the card game of (spade). She also had other aunts Catherine, Lulabee, Ethel, Blondie, Two uncles-Lionel and Percy Mattocks. Two other relatives Dorthy Jean, and Marvin Jr. And many other cousins in North Carolina. Dorthy Jean who was her baby sitter.

She was lovingly known as Quita, Birdy by her aunt Weesie and Cake by her grandmother Moman. She will be sorely Missed
