Carmen Adelina Bodden affectionately known as ''Aunt Carm or Aunt Carmen·was born to the late Vera Bodden and the late Evens Williams in Traujillo, Honduras on May 25, 1930. Carmen transitioned peacefully at her home in Miami, FL on March 14, 2022, with two of her children by her side.

 

At a tender young age, she met the love of her life Cuthbert Vincent Smith, and they married on February 2, 1947. On December 10, 1956, almost ten years later, Carmen migrated to Staten Island, with 5 children. They soon added to their family, growing it to 8 children.

 

For years Carmen worked at Willowbrook State School, as a launderer. She was promoted to a supervisory position because of her hard work, positive energy and dedication. She retired from New York State in 1988. In 1991, she left Staten Island and relocated to Miami, Florida.

 

Carmen was known for her kindness and the comfort and care she provided to everyone, especially her grandchildren. Her smile.was radiant and she had a laugh that was contagious. She enjoyed playing dominos, cooking, listening to country and soca music, traveling, and attending Church of God Universal, where she found a home.

 

Carmen also received great pleasure in entertaining and hosting at her home, sometimes called the·come OnInn•. Family and friends that came from near and far would visit often. She was always ready to serve a good meal and make space for all. No one was ever turned away. Carmen brought joy to the lives of so many people. She would always say, "I could make it with anyone". and truly made everyone feel welcomed. Carmen had a genuine heart of gold.

 

Carmen leaves to cherish her memories eight children; Juan "Stanford" Smith (Cecille), Perswell "Jacko" Smith, Cholina Linwood, Dorothy Edwards, Linda Parchment, Alex Smith, Michael Smith, Steven Smith; one niece; Carol Rose; twenty-six Grandchildren; many Great Grandchildren, one Great-Great Granddaughter, and a host of family and friends.

Carmen was preceded in death by her parents Vera Bodden and Evens Williams, brother Dorian Bodden and husband Cuthbert Vincent Smith.
