Chief Master Sergeant Carlos Alberto Blackman (Retired), age 67, peacefully entered his rest on June 10, 2026, at the Fort Hamilton Veterans Affairs Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.

Carlos was born on August 4, 1958, in Colón, Panama, to Charles Wesley Blackman and Joyce May Blackman. From humble beginnings, he developed the discipline, perseverance, and commitment to excellence that would define his life and legacy.
He attended Aviation High School in Queens, New York, where he cultivated the work ethic and determination that would carry him throughout his professional and military career. Carlos Blackman began his civilian career with Brooklyn Union Gas, where he worked for five years. He later served ten years with the New York City Transit Authority, earning a reputation for
professionalism, dependability, and dedication. He also served as a Sergeant with the Officer Protection Service at the Smithsonian Institution, continuing his commitment to public service and protection.

Answering the call to serve his country, Carlos enlisted in the United States Air Force. Through hard work, technical expertise, and exceptional leadership, he rose through the enlisted ranks of the United States Air Force, ultimately attaining the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. His dedication to excellence earned him a place in the prestigious Chief’s Corps, placing him among the
top one percent of enlisted Airmen. He was widely respected for his leadership, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to those he served alongside. Throughout a military career spanning thirty plus years, Chief Blackman faithfully served in Aerospace Maintenance, mentoring Airmen, leading teams, and ensuring mission readiness around the globe. His final assignment before
retirement was with the 514th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, where he continued to exemplify excellence in leadership and service. Beyond his military accomplishments, Carlos was known for his strength of character, wisdom, generosity, and unwavering commitment to family. He was a man who believed in doing things the

right way, leading by example, and leaving every place and every person better than he found them.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce May Blackman. He is survived by his devoted son, Jonathan Blackman (Roxanne, Caitlynn); his father, Charles Wesley Blackman; his sisters, Ana Hudson (John), Esmeralda Allen (Ronald), and Amelia Schafer (Rick); his brother, Darren Blackman; and a loving circle of nieces and nephews: Daniella Newbill, Jackie Hill, Brandon Hill,
Chris Hill, Charlie Hill, Amber Blackman, Zhané Blackman, Moné Blackman, Ayanna Blackman, Xiomara Tryban, Xenia LoBue, and Victor Eaves. He also leaves behind extended family members, lifelong friends, fellow veterans, former colleagues, and countless individuals whose lives were touched by his kindness, leadership, mentorship, and example.
While we mourn his passing, we celebrate a life of honorable service, steadfast dedication, and enduring love. Chief Master Sergeant Carlos Alberto Blackman's legacy will continue to live on through the family he cherished, the Airmen he mentored, and the countless lives he influenced through his example of excellence and service.
