July 25, 1960 - May 7, 2024, Bronx, New York - Butler Redd III, DDS was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to the late LtCol Butler Redd, Jr. (USAF ret) and Elizabeth Taylor Redd.
After his father’s retirement from the U.S. Air Force, the family moved to Durham, N.C. where Butler spent most of his formative years. He excelled in sports playing basketball, football, and tennis while in high school at Durham Academy. Butler graduated from Morehouse College in 1979 and Howard University, School of Dentistry in 1983. He practiced dentistry in North Carolina, Virginia, Washington, D.C. and New York City. Predetermined by God, he was taken from us too soon.
Left to cherish his memory are his sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Redd-Clary, PhD (Ronnie), LTC Hortense Britt, USA ret (Ronald), Rebecca Redd-Jolly, J.D., Jacquelyn Redd, M.D. and his beloved nephews and nieces Ronald Clary, David and Assunta Clary, Ronald and Tanecia Britt, Randall Britt, Malinda Jolly, Taylor Riddick, and April Riddick. He is survived by his only son, Logan Redd Murphy.
He also had a network of family and friends which included his Brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Butler loved all sports; had a beautiful heart, and a charismatic personality.
