Beverlyn Watson Ferguson was born to the late Wilhelmina and James E. Watson on October 11, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York.

Beverlyn was baptized at Holy Trinity Baptist Church at an early age.  She was educated in NYC Public Schools, graduated from Commercial High School in June 1963. In 1966, she married Ray L. Ferguson and from this union, their daughters Patricia and Christine were born, whom she was very proud of.

Beverlyn held several jobs which mainly included data entry and accounts payable positions. In 2004, wanting a quieter place to reside, Beverlyn followed her daughter, Patricia, and moved to Gloucester, Virginia. Her last occupational position was at Virginia Institute of Marine Science in the department of accounts payable until she retired in 2013.

Beverlyn, “Bev” as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, loved to have a good time, laugh, travel, enjoyed eating out in all types of restaurants, hitting the slots and spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s events, such as sporting events, dance recitals and band concerts. She was very proud of them. She also loved dancing and listening to music. She had a real love for jazz like her parents, but also liked her “old school” R&B from the 60’s and 70’s. Beverlyn was a person who was not afraid to “tell it, like it is”, she was feisty. However, she was a very affectionate, loveable person. To know her was to love her.

Beverlyn was preceded in death by her father, mother and brother James “Doc”.

Beverlyn leaves to celebrate her home going by: her daughters Patricia and Christine; grandchildren Michael, Malik and Zakiyia; her nephew Jermaine, her Aunt Martha, Sister-in law Helen, and a host of cousins and friends.
