Betty J. Samuels, age 83, passed away on September 27, 2023, in Staten Island, NY at the New Vanderbilt Rehabilitation and Care Center.
Betty J. Samuels was born on August 29, 1940, in Augusta, Ga to parents Hosie and Susie Oliver and left at 2 yrs. old to go to NYC. Where she attended PS. 031 and McKee Vocational High School in Staten Island. She lived in New Brighton and settled in Mariners Harbor from 1972 to the present. While working at United Cerebral Palsy in Willowbrook and Safe Health Harbor Home Care Services for many years.
She was a great family woman and a loving mother. Betty J. Samuels married Henry Samuels and the couple had two children, Curtis Oliver, and Paulette Samuels.
Betty loved to cook her favorite family meal at home and take it to family gatherings. She was famous for her baked spaghetti, and she loved making farina for her grandchildren.
She was very family oriented always traveled in the rain sleet and snow to visit her family in Chelsea projects on Pacific St in Brooklyn, while toting Rahmel & Paulette with her.
She loved to joke and laugh and never had a problem speaking her mind lol!
She loved her long nails and her clothing. Which you would have thought was Taylor made the way she put her attire together.
She cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren especially Daquan which she made very clear to his mom that when she gave birth to him, he was hers lol!
But nevertheless, she loved us all unconditionally and was the best mom and grandma anyone could ever have.
Betty will be missed tremendously by her family and friends. We love you mom and grandma get your rest now…...
Betty J. Samuels is survived by her Daughter Paulette Samuels; her Grandchildren Daquan, Shaquielle, Tatyana, Nazair Samuels, and Rahmel Oliver; Great Grandchildren Desmond, Olivia, Deion Samuels Gianna Hines, Kaydence, and Kya ‘Dior Oliver, Tahj Princeton and Taraji Michelle Samuels, Kaidence Tyrese Wise, Daquan Grant, Daikira and Maljahnek Tyler, Chyann Oliver; Great Great Grandchildren Asiah and Sir’Majesty Grant, Lovlie and Rose’lynn Geasman, Chance and Aurora Tyler. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
Betty J. Samuels is preceded in death by her Husband Henry Samuels; her Parents Hosie and Susie Oliver; her Son Curtis Oliver; Granddaughter Rahmisha Oliver; Sisters Margaret O’Neill and Evelyn Taylor; Brothers John Henry Oliver, James Oliver Sr., Alvin Oliver, Alonzo Oliver, and Toby Oliver.
