Betsy Maria Hilliare was born on January 8, 1964, in Brooklyn, New York to Alphonso E. Hillaire and Socorro Maria Soto. She attended New Dorp High School in Staten Island and ultimately became a Certified Home Health Aid. She went home on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at the age of 59.
She lived most of her life in Staten Island on Park Hill growing up with her sisters Yvette (Evie) and Elizabeth (Little Liz). They were lovingly raised by Linda Argus (Mom/Ada) and Carmen McLaurin (Titi). Her older brother, Tony, lived just across the water.
Betsy was a great family woman. She was loving mother, grandmother, godmother, sister, aunt and friend. She married Michael Ayeboafo and the couple had two children together: Tehuti and Michael, in addition to her daughter Desiree.
Betsy was a social, active woman who deeply loved knitting, swimming and bowling for most of her life. She enjoyed playing with her kids and grandchildren and taking care of the elderly. Her family will always remember her as a giving, thoughtful, and passionate person with an outgoing and magnetic personality. She was loved not just by her own children but also those in the neighborhood. Betsy was a like mom to everyone with an open door always. It was routine for Betsy to call daily for just a few minutes to check on her loved ones and to remind them that she loved them.

She is preceded in death by her mother- Socorro Holman (Soto), her father- Alphonso Hillaire, her sister Claudette Howard, Elizabeth Delmonte, her adoptive mother- Linda Argus and aunt- Carmen McLaurin.
