In Loving Memory of Beryl Brooks

Beryl Brooks, affectionately known as "Miss Cooley," passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at the age of 99.  She was born on April 26, 1926, in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, West Indies to the late Beatrice (Dennis) and Charlie Brooks.

Beryl is survived by her children Gertrude, Joslyn (and Carmen), Ivorlyn (and Frank), Rudolph, Ventrice (and Winston), and Denise, 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her son, Owen. 

While living in Jamaica, Beryl was an accomplished seamstress by profession.  After migrating to the United States, she enjoyed a second career as a compassionate home health aide.  In her retirement, she liked reading and keeping up with current events in the daily newspapers and television news shows—often humorously sharing her passionate opinions on current affairs.  Beryl also liked watching her daily game shows, particularly “The Price is Right.”  She especially enjoyed singing in church, as well as caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Beryl was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. She was small in stature but was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. She was also a private and quiet person but could be very witty and had a wonderful sense of humor! Beryl was a source of inspiration, and she will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.
