Arthur Lee Reynolds was born on December 28, 1957. He entered eternal rest at the age of 68 on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Richmond University Medical Center.
Arthur was born in Savannah, Georgia, to Mrs. Daisy Mae Reynolds. Shortly after his birth he moved to Crown Heights, Brooklyn, where he was raised by his grandmother, Ms. Mamie Jackson. He attended P.S. 91 Elementary School and Winthrop Junior High School, where he played football and the trumpet. He later attended Wingate High School, where he ran track and played football as a defensive end and linebacker. By his senior year, he was team captain and earned a place on the Brooklyn Big 44 team.
After high school, Arthur received multiple scholarship offers and chose to attend New Mexico Highlands University. There, he excelled on the football field as a running back, earning the nickname “Sweet Feet.” After college, he was drafted by the New Jersey Generals of the newly founded USFL. Following his time with the Generals, he returned home to play minor league professional football with the Brooklyn Kings, where he resumed his position as defensive end and became an All–Mid Eastern Football Conference player on a championship-winning team. A few years into his football career, he suffered a serious knee injury that ended his playing days but never diminished his love for the game.
After recovering from his injury, Arthur began working at Chemical Bank as an ATM operator, where he met Cynthia Fields. In 1985, they welcomed their daughter, Lena. Over the years, Arthur worked in several city agencies, including the Department of Aging (SCRIE), Zagoria Residence Shelter, and the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS). While at ACS, he met his longtime girlfriend, Lynne Martin, and later retired to Staten Island, where he became a pillar of his community. A restless jack of all trades, Arthur became the go-to person for handyman work and guidance. He was a familiar and comforting presence who helped anyone he could—assisting fellow tenants, mentoring young men, and checking in on both elderly and younger neighbors. Arthur was truly a gentle giant.
Arthur is survived by his daughter, Lena, and his grandson, Cameron, of Harlem, New York; his sisters, Patricia, Cora, Vanessa, and Willie Mae; and his brothers, John and Robert. He also leaves to cherish his memory his girlfriend, Lynne Martin; his stepdaughter, Essence; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
