Alice R. Robinson, a lifelong Staten Islander passed away in the early morning of July 17, 2025. Alice grew up in Mariners Harbor, the youngest of seven children. She was a graduate of Port Richmond High School. Alice was a community volunteer in the 1960s, encouraging parents to sign up their children for the then new program of Head Start. She continued her career and interest in education and worked as a Paraprofessional for the New York City public schools until her retirement in 2002. She worked at different schools throughout Staten Island including, at PS 31, IS 61 and finally at PS 18. She received an award for Outstanding Paraprofessional in 2001. She also received recognition as Volunteer of the Month from the Staten Island AIDS Taskforce in March 1994.

For a time, Alice also owned and operated Neptune’s Bounty located on Victory Blvd., on Staten Island. A thespian, Alice preformed in several Staten Island community theater productions, including “Purlie Victorious” and for “Colored Girls Who Have Considered When the Rainbow Was Enough”. One of her most cherished memories was being chosen as the MC for Staten Island night at Carnegie Hall, where her talent as a public speaker and comedian were on full display.  Always a unique individualist, Alice was wearing dreadlocks when only Rastafarians and Whoopie Goldberg sported the now ubiquitous hair style.

An avid reader, Alice enjoyed attending plays and concerts throughout the city. One her favorite activities was walking even into her latter years. She also enjoyed traveling, having visited Aruba several times. Although raised a Catholic, Alice was a spiritual explorer and manifested her beliefs as an all-encompassing acceptance that God will provide.

Alice was predeceased by her parents, Mary Elizabeth Augcomfar and William Noggins; her siblings, Ida Augcomfar, Allen Augcomfar, Jean Walton, Evelyn Nash, Moira Smith, and Tallulah West. She is survived by her four children, Antonio Rodriquez of Chesapeake, Virginia; Victoria Robinson of Baltimore, Maryland; Todd Robinson of New York; and Janelle Armstrong of New York. Two grandchildren, Tenay and Tarsheen and two great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Alice, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and Aunt, was loved dearly and will be sorely missed.
