Mrs. Alice Odege, age 67, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 25, 2023, at the Clove Lakes Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Staten Island, New York. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and niece.
Alice was born on September 14, 1955, to Lucille Martin-Cutler and William Lee Cutler in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Langley High School in Pittsburgh she went to a nursing school, and worked at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She also graduated from Drake Business School in Staten Island, New York. Alice was a devout Christian who believes in God the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. She was born and raised in the Damascus Church of God in Christ and McKees Rock District where she served as a Choir Director, Evangelist, Missionary, and District Missionary President over the WPWW for 15 years before her marriage.
She married her beloved husband Kalu Odege in 1990 and moved to Staten Island, New York. She worshipped at both the Presbyterian Church, and the Church of God in Christ in Staten Island and served as a Sunday school teacher, and organized prayer group meetings. Her smile was so stunning it would light up the whole room. She was so kind, passionate, and caring for people around her. Her sisters used to complain about how strong-willed and stubborn she was at times, and that she also had enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. She made impacts on many lives. She will be forever missed. She retired in 2010 from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in Staten Island, New York.
Alice is survived by her beloved husband Kalu Odege and two daughters – Mariama Odege and Ngozi Odege, and her granddaughter Amaiya Rae Spruell. She is also survived by her sisters Sarah Jones, Carol Nassar Gordon, Frankie Petty, and Nancy Buckner.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents - Lucille Martin Cutler and William Lee Cutler; brothers - Dougie Cutler and Benny Cutler, and sister - Viscey Muhammad.
