Theodora (Dora) V. Moody, aged 94, died Monday, March 12, 2018 at Clove Lakes Nursing Home in Staten Island. She was born on May 2, 1923 in the Sandy Ground community of Staten Island to Howard (Hash) Henry and Gladys Moody.
Dora loved being around her grandchildren, and with them discovered many new restaurants in the tristate area. She also loved to travel and traveled and with her family on trips to Disney world and Canada as well as vacations to Hawaii with her mother and cruises with her siblings and extended family.
She had many hobbies, including camping, fishing, and baking. She retired from the City of New York as a Food Service Manager at Coney Island Hospital and became a volunteer at Clove Lakes Nursing Home. She was a long standing member of Rossville A.M.E Zion Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Herbert Moody, Donald Moody, and Hayward Moody; sisters Francis Henry-Hemingway-Joseph, Mary Cooper, and Augusta (Gus) Henry Mosley; son Terri Lewis and daughter Myra Lewis.
She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter Donna Harvey; grandchildren: Mark Nelson, Darren Harvey, Kevin Dodd, Emma Dodd, Wesley Dodd, Shoshanna Harvey, Tauheedah Catty, and great grandchildren: Kareem, Kelsey, Niles, Kayla Asia, Nahasia and Anya, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
