Harry Tomlin Obituary

 

Harry “Black” “Harry-O“ “Black Buster” Leonard Tomlin, received his calling, and transitioned to a higher place, on March 19th, 2019.

 

Harry was born November 24th, 1957 to parents Jeremiah Tomlin and Lillie Mae Wells in Staten Island, NY at St. Vincent’s Hospital.   As a child Harry grew up in the Mariners Harbor area.  Harry graduated from McKee High School in 1975.  He played varsity basketball for McKee as well. It was noted that he had great skills and was hard to guard. Harry would later on work various jobs but mainly as a physical labor worker of many trades which included construction, welding, glass technician, and a handy man.

 

Harry was always an outgoing person, full of life, and definitely loved by many people. He took pride in his musicianship. He sang and played various instruments including the congas and drums. Over many years he would sing in various bands throughout Staten Island and was well known.

 

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, his only brother Jerome Tomlin, sister Mary Ann Tomlin-Forbes as well as his wife Pamela Moore.

 

Harry is survived by his daughter Lynell Reid of Chattanooga, TN and sons Nigel and Quamaine Tomlin of Staten Island, NY. Sisters Jacqueline Hawkins-Johnson of Gulf Port, FL, Malissa Nelson of Spring Hill, FL, Cathy Davis of Bronx, NY,  Debbie Brown Staten Island, NY,  Sandra Tomlin-Maddox of Williston, VT. Grand children Davon Reid, and Janiyah Buckmon of Chattanooga TN.  He is survived by God son Lawrence Coote, God sisters Faith, Hope and Charity Thompson and God brother Harry Thompson. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
