Barbara C. Jenkins was born on November 23, 1938 to the late
Heflin and Bertha Cox in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania. She was the seven of
nine children. As a beautiful, warm, outgoing little girl, Barbara grew up with
her siblings: Vivian, Alma, Herman, Lorraine, Norman, LaRue, Sherille and
Rashonne in the small intimate town of Vandergrift. She attended and
graduated from Vandergrift High School. After graduation, an ambitious
Barbara set her sights on pursuing a career in modeling. Her passion for the
profession compelled her to participate in a number of beauty contests.
With her stunning looks and persona, she ventured to the “Big Apple,” -New
York City! In 1963 she met the love of her life, the late John Jenkins and they
were married on November 24, 1970 in Las Vegas, Nevada. To this union
was born two daughters, Barbara Michelle and Nicole, in the spitting-image
of their parents! Barbara worked as an employee for the United States Post
Office and became her own businesswoman in Harlem. She loved life,
family, traveling, sports, jewelry, and fashion of course, always looking
absolutely fabulous wherever she would go!
Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family, she believed in
family sticking together, no matter what! She always acted as the “peace-
maker.” Barbara loved the Lord and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal
Lord and Savior. Her caring, warm, tender heart and life touched the lives of
so many.
On June 11, 2019, Barbara C. Jenkins was called home to God

natural presence. Thankfully, we have our Faith in God that there is going to
be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous on that Great
