On Saturday, August 19, 2017, Timothy Rose, Jr., age 71, passed away after a brief but valiant battle with colorectal cancer in Carmel Richmond Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Staten Island, New York.
Timothy, Jr., was born on March 15, 1946 in Sydenham Hospital in Harlem, New York, to Timothy Rose, Sr., and Rosa (Harris) Rose. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and from October 4, 1966 until his discharge on November 30, 1970. He took pride in his work on the U.S.S. Wasp, a multipurpose amphibious assault ship, and in his role in the recovery missions for NASA space capsules. After his service in the Navy, he returned to New York City, joined Local 2 of the Plumbers Union. In 1973, he married Deborah (Debi) Carrington and they had one son together, Timothy Louis Rose. In addition to his work as a plumber, he worked as a caregiver in group homes, and as a correctional officer at the Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center.
Timothy, Jr., became proficient in martial arts, attaining degrees in multiple disciplines. He enjoyed jazz music, reading, and smoking cigars with friends. His family and friends will always remember him as a quiet and caring person who was dedicated to his grandchildren.
Timothy, Jr., is survived by his son Timothy Louis Rose, his daughter-in-law, Jillian Francesca Rose, his former wife Debi Rose, and his grandchildren, Dante V. Rose and Phoenix A. Rose. His mother Rosa and father Timothy, Sr., proceed him in death.
A funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at 10 AM, and will be held at Stradford Funderal Home, 1241 Castleton Avenue in Staten Island, New York.
