Lynette Oates was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 2, 2017 in Staten Island University Hospital, surrounded by her family. From her birth in St Vincent’s Hospital, on January 2, 1947 to her passing on Thursday she nourished the people around her with love, faith, and a good time. She was the youngest daughter of Marguerite Oates. From an early age she established her light as being the life of the party. Lynette loved to live and enjoy life to its fullest or as she would say, “Just keep it jazzy.” From dancing on Soul Train and on stage with James Brown to becoming a pro bowler known as ‘Nitro’ and winning the Staten Island title with her team in the early nineties. She was always full of life and giving off God’s love to others. She began her career at SeaView hospital over 35 years ago as a rehab technician where her hard work and dedication was shown through her service to the people she met and helped along the way. Some of her favorite times out and about were dancing, bowling, cooking, hanging with her SeaView family, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her beloved son Paul, 5 grandchildren: Regina, Nadia, Hannah, Katherine, and Aidan; her sister Paula, her niece Suzette; nephews: Henry and Edward, many great-nieces and nephews, and her SeaView family. Lynette will be remembered as a bright shining light in the various communities she served.
