Frederick Vandross
September 15, 1944 ~ May 4, 2017 (age 72) 72 Years OldFrederick Vandross aged 72, died of a long term illness on May 4th, 2017 in Staten Island. Frederick was born on September 15th, 1944 in Bronx, NY to parents Gladys Sanders and William Vandross. He graduated from the College of Staten Island in teaching with a degree in teaching. In 1972, he moved to Staten Island and accepted a position as a teacher at P.S 16 where he worked for more than 15 years. He also worked at Alexander clothing store in the Bronx.
Frederick was a great family man and a loving uncle. He was a social, active man who was deeply involved in raising his nieces and nephew for most of his life. He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews and listen to music. He loved to spend time with his friends. He enjoyed watching T.V. and his favorite T.V. shows were Jeopardy, Law and Order, Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud. His family and friends will always remember him as a loving, caring, giving, humble person.
Frederick is survived by his brother and three sisters and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, a brother and sister.
A funeral is scheduled for May 12th, 2017 at 8 pm at Stradford Funeral Home on Castleton Avenue. A reception will follow at 131 Jersey Street Apartment 3H. All are welcomed to attend and celebrate Frederick Vandross’s life. The family would like to thank everybody for coming and paying their respect.
